BMW hit-and-run case: Raut demands case trial in fast track court
Sanjay Raut, a prominent leader of the Shiv Sena (UBT), called for the BMW hit-and-run case to be tried in a fast track court on Wednesday. The case involves the son of a Shiv Sena politician who is accused of the crime. Raut alleged that there are ongoing attempts to protect the accused individual.
While speaking to journalists, Raut expressed his disbelief at the Mumbai Police's inability to locate the accused for three days following the incident. He strongly advocated for the accused to receive the death penalty as punishment for their actions.
The accused, identified as Mihir Shah (24), the son of Shiv Sena politician Rajesh Shah, was taken into custody by Mumbai Police on Tuesday. This arrest came two days after Shah allegedly crashed his BMW car into a two-wheeler in the Worli area, resulting in the death of Kaveri Nakhwa (45) and causing injuries to her husband.

The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde, has pledged to take stringent measures against those responsible in the BMW case, despite allegations that the primary suspect is the son of a leader from his own party. Shinde emphasized that no one would be exempt from consequences, regardless of their affiliations.
"Whoever is guilty will not be spared; strict action will be taken against them," Shinde told reporters.
In addition to promising legal action, the Chief Minister also announced financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh for the victim's family, to be provided from the CM's Relief Fund.

Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has published the Civil Aviation Requirement (CAR) prescribing the framework for safe operations by ground handling service providers (GHSPs) after an extensive consultation process with all stakeholders. The Ground Handling Agencies (GHAs) have been given a time frame of six months to comply with the provisions of this CAR. The robust safety mechanism to be implemented prospectively by the GHSPs would help in prevention and mitigation of ground incidents at the airport thereby enhancing the quality of services rendered in safety-sensitive functions: DGCA
